Am I able to come for a tour?

Yes. Simply e-mail admin@salmondcollege.ac.nz or call 03 473 0750 with your preferred date and time and we will be happy to show you around. Parents and friends are welcome.

What dietary requirements is Salmond able to cater for?

The Salmond kitchen does a tremendous job of catering for all dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, dairy free, among others. If you have any questions about dietary requirements, contact Salmond Food Services Manager, Michael O'Brien: fsmanager@salmondcollege.ac.nz

Is there somewhere I can park my car?

Salmond College has a student car park with up to 30 parks, available at a small cost. Contact the office to enquire re availability.

 

Is there somewhere I can keep my bike secured?

Around the back of the College there is a secured bike shed, accessible to Salmond students with their key card.

What exercise facilities does Salmond have?

Salmond has a well-equipped gym which is accessed by key card. In the gym, there are ellipticals, treadmills, rowing machines, exercise bikes, handheld weights and dumbells, yoga mats, exercise bands, skipping ropes, boxing gloves and a boxing bag. The gym is also kitted out with a Bluetooth speaker and heating.

How close is the nearest shopping centre?

Salmond is in a prime location with a New World supermarket, pharmacy, several cafes and some great opshops just a few minutes walk away.

What is close by?

Aside from the locations listed above, close by there are: The Botanic Gardens, the cricket nets and park, and bus stops. All essentially at the end of our street!

What special events does Salmond have?

Salmond hosts many events throughout the year, including classics like the annual Ball, H.O.P.s (Hall Only Parties), as well as special events including the Salmond Birthday Party, overnight trip to Quarantine Island, annual Ski Trip, and a Mid-Winter Christmas amongst many others!

Does Salmond allow Returners?

Yes! Salmond loves to have returning students!  Returners create a homely and inviting dynamic for our first year students, and some even stay for a third year or longer.

What is included in a room at Salmond?

The basics that are include in a room at Salmond are:

- King Single Bed

- Bedding (x1 pillow, x1 duvet inner, x1 duvet cover, x1 set of sheets) - sheet change occurs regularly - three times a week

- Wardrobe

- Shelving

- Desk

- Desk Chair

- Lamp

- Double Glazed Windows

- Heater

There are also 10 en-suite rooms available.

Are all floors unisex?

Most floors at Salmond are mixed gender, though we do have female only floors as an option. Alcohol free is also an option. 

Will I be able to put up posters and pictures?

There is a large pin board in the rooms for posters and pictures.  If placing items on the walls, please use blutac to put them up. Nothing is to be fixed to the ceiling. At the end of the year the room is to be left in the condition in which it was found.
